We are off and going-it was great seeing the kids back in the building!!
The first week of school is always a big adjustment as transportation, schedules, etc... get ironed out.
Thank you to all of you for your patience.
A big Thank You to our staff who helped get everything ready for the new year!
I know our bus drivers, parents, and student drivers appreciate the safe driving on Chaney Ave and around town. Paying attention and going slow is key to getting everyone here safely!
I want to give a big Shout Out to our staff who seamlessly adapted to our spontaneous non-digital day on Friday. Without missing a beat everyone had powerful and unique lessons-it was incredible!!
This week we have a few updates + events to share, photos of classes, and an outline of some conversations.
We all look forward to seeing you at Open House, this Wednesday, from 4:30 pm -7 pm.
Please reach out with questions,
Mrs. Zullo

During the upcoming weeks we will be working with Community Connections to share out support that can be accessed.
They were the sponsors for Saturday's Candlelight Vigil.

First Day Assemblies
Our teachers were great and gave Ms. Wickwire and I time to develop expectations for a great year with children. We met with each grade level at different times to make sure our message was appropriate for their unique needs. All conversations centered around what is outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook, and the consequences as shared in the Code of Conduct.
The general outline of conversations was around how to be safe, respectful and responsible. We discuss that:
- To be Safe we-
- Walk in the hall on one side standing on our own;
- Dress in a way that covers the body, has an inseam and doesn't drag on the floor or cause hard;
- Be present in class limiting phone use to before 7:50, hallway time, lunch and after 2:05. Phones should be kept out of sight, messages can be sent through the office and we will do our best to get them to kids.
- To be Respectful we-
- Talk with others, peers, friends and adults in different ways being mindful of our current and future relationship with the people;
- Give privacy in places where privacy is called for and needed.
- To be Responsible we-
- Show up prepared for class;
- Communicate through email, Google Classroom or Remind with teachers if we forgot something;
- Actively participate;
- If there is conflict we talk with an adult.
We also shared with children the anonymous form where they can tell us about things that we should know about.
Helping children to learn about and learn from experiences relating to 9/11.
MHS social studies teachers took time the past week to reflect on the occurrences of 9/11. While we know that our students were not yet alive each educator worked with students and faculty to share our insights and thoughts about the day. The questions asked in classes were incredible.
