1/2 TLMHS Family Update and Information

Amanda Zullo
Happy New Year!

It is hard to believe that it is already January. By the end of next week, we will have been in school for 80 days!

I fell behind on posting photos during the week before break. Our school collected food for the food pantry, outlined how to light up the world with kindness, and had fun with themed dress-up days.

The slideshow below contains a few. To see the slideshow, you need to view this email in your browser.

Our students have accomplished a lot over the first several months of the school year! We all look forward to what the rest of the year holds!

Congratulations

Congratulations to Mrs. Davison on earning the Peter R. Marsh Foundation Grant! This grant will provide instrument repair funding and help interconnect our music students with the community. Great job, Mrs. Davison!!

Welcome

Welcome, Miss. Hackett! Taylor Hackett will be joining us as a 6th-grade math teacher. She is finishing her certification and comes to us with a lot of experience substituting, coaching modified sports, and working with our 6th graders along with our 6th-grade team the week before break. Please give Miss. Hackett a big Lumberjack, welcome!

Homework Page
Our Middle/High School teachers have been working hard to ensure everyone knows what is happening in classes. The homework page contains homework and a summary of classes. I encourage you to wait until tomorrow to check it out, as people are still updating!

This links to the TLMHS homework page containing Middle School and High School information.

Mid-Term Exams
Our Mid-Term exam schedule is located here. Morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off bus runs will continue during this week.

Lunch
The January lunch menus are located here. Our cafeteria staff can take money for children's accounts, or the money can be added to MySchoolBucks.

Our cafeteria staff has instituted a no cell phone use during the serving line as it causes distractions and holds up the lines. When the lines are moving efficiently, the kids have a lot of time in the cafeteria to use their phones.

Thank you for sharing this with your children and helping us ensure that all children can quickly get through the lunch line.

Coming back
We are mindful that it will take students a little time to settle upon returning from break.  Our teachers will be working on reteaching expectations so students can continue to succeed this school year.

As long as your child is healthy, please encourage showing up to class when school is in session. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect with peers and teachers.
  • Reestablish routines at home: Routines help foster confidence and allow students to feel in control of their world.  Having a process for the morning, mealtime, and bedtime routines is one way to ensure that your day begins and ends smoothly.
  • Keep in touch: Be sure to reach out if there is something major in your child's life that you feel we should be aware of.
    • You can report the absence using our email address: [email protected]
      • When reporting the absence, please be sure to include:
        • Student's name
        • Reason for absence
    • Build habits for good attendance: If your child is truly sick, please keep them home.  Remember that complaints of a stomach ache or headache can signify anxiety and may not be a reason to stay home. If your child seems anxious about going to school or if other limiting factors are leading to an increase in absences, we have resources to support your family.

We look forward to seeing your child again when school resumes on Tuesday, January 3, 2023!

Truly,

Mrs. Zullo
