Dear Tupper Lake CSD Families:
Citing strong statewide COVID-19 vaccination rates, falling positivity rates, declining hospitalization rates and new guidance from the CDC, Governor Hochul announced yesterday that the mask mandate in New York State schools will be lifted on March 2. With that in mind, Tupper Lake CSD is planning to pivot to a mask-optional policy beginning on Wednesday, March 2.
We know this is an important and sensitive topic across our community, and every family now has the freedom to make decisions based on what they feel is best for their particular set of circumstances. Whatever that choice, our staff will continue to create and foster a welcoming and positive environment for all students.
We are working on a document that will address the many questions that have been coming our way since this news broke on Sunday, and hope to have that (along with any other related NYSED or NYSDOH guidance) available as soon as possible.
